Default Filing Petition and Getting Acknowledgment of Service

My question involves a marriage in the state of: Michigan

I don't think that there is but I'd like to confirm.

Is there any reason why I can't file my divorce petition, have my spouse sign the acknowledgment of service after a friend hands her the petition/summons, and file that the same day? I'd to get the ball rolling, but I only have a short window of time.

    Thanks.

Default Re: Filing Petition and Getting Acknowledgment of Service

If your spouse acknowledges service, that can be used as evidence of service. if your spouse is cooperative, you and she can even go to court together and she can acknowledge service at the time you file your complaint.

You have a sixty-day to six-month waiting period after you file, depending on whether or not you have kids, so if time is of the essence you had best get moving.
