How Long Does a "KD" Stay On Your Credit Report

My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: When I left college in 2005 the electric bill was still in my name. My college roomates didnt pay the bill and has been hitting my credit. I attempted to pay them if they would take the negative mark off of my credit. They would not. The late payment was almost 7 years ago, yet the "KD" was put on my credit just over a year ago. Will this come off of my credit in 7 years from when they put the "KD" or from when the payment wasnt made? Thank you for your help.

Was there new action on the account last year that resulted in the addition of the "KD" notation?

When you looked at your report after the "KD" was added, what date was listed as the date when the entry would drop off?

I am not exactly sure what you are asking. On my credit report it shows a "ND" in 2007, 2008,2009 and in Nov of 2010 it shows a red "KD". Thanks for your help.

I can't see your credit report from here, so I cannot explain it to you.

If there was new action, then the seven years may be starting from the new action. If not, then the original seven year period should govern.

I havent lived in the state of California in over 6 years and the payment that was missed to the electric company was over 6 years ago. Can they add something else on my credit 5 years after? If so would it all be dropped 7 years the time they added a KD or from the missed payment? Thanks

Why it showed up 5 years later is bizarre but legal. It's 7 years from the delinquency.
