Failure to Provide Proof of Insurance New Jersey

My question involves traffic court in the State of: New Jersey

A week ago I was pulled over for speeding. I couldn't find my current insurance card because of the mess of papers in the car. I gave him my old one. He said he was being nice and gave me a ticket for failure to provide current insurance card. Afterwards I did find my current one in the car. My question now is....What do I plea? on the ticket it says I can plead not guilty by calling in. Is that what i want to do? i know i need to talk to the prosecutor to get a plea bargain for showing my current insurance card. I just dont know what to do. I dont want to go in on my court date and find out that im only there to plea guilty or not guilty and have to go back again. Thanks for the information and help!

Contact the court and see what their practices are. In some courts the clerk will dismiss the ticket upon submission of proof that you were insured at the time you were stopped. Otherwise, identify the prosecutor who will be handling the charge and contact the prosecutor about the ticket with the same end in mind. The clerk of the court where the ticket is to be heard may be able to tell you who the prosecutor would be.

NJ doesn't do Fix-It-Tickets or wave a ticket because the offender now has there paperwork to show the court. Everyone in NJ is treated the same - like an ATM machine.
