Asked to Sign a Renunciation

My question involves estate proceedings in the state of: Pennsylvania


Hi,

My mother passed away Dec 21 2011 in Pennsylvania. My brother, who was the POA is asking me to sign a Renunciation form and have it Notarized and sent back to him ASAP. My residence is in Florida. My brother claims that it will make the legal proceedings less complicated by not having to send forms back and forth for signing. My understanding is that a Renunciation declares that I do not want to receive and willingly give up my share of the inheritance.

Any information on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

If you give up your share of the estate, no doubt that will make it easier for your brother to wrap up the estate... and keep what would otherwise be your share.
