My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: MICHIGAN
i was pulled over for speeding and the officer stated that he Paced me.
Scene: 10pm, night. slow car in front of me i had been following for about a mile, turned onto another road and slow car also made this turn, passed car used blinkers, and moved back over and continued at a speed of at most 53mph. officer was behind me at time of pass, and he stayed behind the van, about one mile later he speeds up and pulls me over.
what i dont understand is after i passed the van, the van was only doing 35 in a 50, and the officer stayed behind the van and suddenly pulled out and passed him and sped up to me. pulled me over, and gave me a ticket saying i was doing 60 in a 50 and that he "paced" me. i know i wasnt going this fast. because i have gotten 2 speeding tickets in the past month, and i dont speed anymore.
how can be "pace" me when hes doing 35 and im going 50, and accurately measure and say i was going 60+?
is there any way i can fight this because as ive read its basically his word against mine.
he asked me why he pulled me over and i responded with a "no sir, why did u pull me over?" and he stated "you dont know why?" and i responded "no sir", and he then said "you have no idea huh?" and i said "no". so i didnt basically "admit it" that i was speeding and he never said he radar-ed me or anything.
what should i do???
