Default How to Get Guardianship of My Disabled Mother

My question involves guardianship in the State of: Missouri

My fiance would like to get guardianship/conservatorship on his mom. How can he go about doing this without paying so much for an attorney? His mother is mentally disabled. He would have to pay $1,050 for an attorney. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

he can take the same actions the attorney would which is file with the courts a desire to be his mothers guardian and/or conservator.

If she is mentally disabled, is there currently a guardian or conservator? If not, how does she deal with her life without one?
I am not an attorney and any advice is not to be construed as legal advice. You might even want to ignore my advice. Actually, there are plenty of real attorneys that you might want to ignore as well.

You're saying...it's cheaper to file it with the court? She is mentally disabled. She doesn't have a guardian or a conservator at this time. She was doing ok until her husband told her that he was going to file for divorce. Then she went downhill from there. She didn't take some of her meds. Which, in turn, made her uncomprehensive. She can no longer function on her own. She needs complete supervision at all times.

Whether or not you retain a lawyer the case is filed with a court. What he's saying is that if you can figure out how to proceed without a lawyer, you avoid paying the lawyer's fees.

Thank you Mr. Knowitall. I read about filing without an attorney and in the long run, it'll be cheaper for him to hire an attorney. Less headache. It'll be done and over with very quickly. Thank you so much Mr. Knowitall and jk for your advice. I appreciate it.
