Does Marriage Emancipate a Minor in Texas

My question involves marriage law for the State of: Texas

I am 17, my boyfriend is 18. We have a daughter and are planning on getting married in march and after we get married we want to move into an apartment. Today when I went to look at apartments they told me that being married is not the same thing as being emancipated and I cant rent an apartment with him until were emancipated. Is that correct? If so how do I get emancipated? I don't work, I go to school only and take care of our baby, he provides everything for our baby and us.

You're considered emancipated upon marriage.

However, this doesn't mean a landlord either knows the legalities of marriage/emancipation or that they're obliged to rent to you if you're not 18.

Marriage emancipates you for purposes of Family Code provisions relating to the parent-child relationship, such that you're no longer subject to the jurisdiction of your parents. (Texas Family Code, Sec.101.003) The ability to enter into contracts in the capacity of an adult is a separate issue.
