    Default Reapplying for Citizenship

I applied for citizenship several years ago (maybe 7yrs) and was denied because I didn't not realize my probation was still in affect. When I had my interview, the interviewer stated if I waited just a few more months, I would have easily passed. C'est la vie...

Now that several years have past I want to reapply. Will USCIS still have my information on file, such as my official copy of my birth certificate, divorce papers, and other pertinent infomation I needed to make official copies of? Should I just invest in a lawyer?

You should anticipate that you will have to resubmit your documentation.

It's up to you to assess whether or not you would benefit from legal representation - you know the full background of your case and you also should have a pretty good sense of your comfort level and aptitude when it comes to proceeding with or without a lawyer.

Thanks Mr. Knowitall. I appreciate your input and vast knowledge. But another question for you... If I were to proceed with a lawyer, do they do all the legwork? What I mean is, if I were to bring in all of my paperwork and documents from my initial application, would the lawyer (most likely their paralegal) complete all the necessary formalities and red tape? The reason for my question is because when I did it on my own I was working at night, had no kids at the time and it was easier for me to get things done during the day. But now I have two little girls and a 8 - 5pm job.
