Assuming you're in the US:
You will never be financially responsible for your boyfriend's children.
Your wages cannot be garnished for the debt.
However, anything you own JOINTLY can be up for grabs - so keep your finances separate.

Yep. That means no putting your money into a bank account with his money - because if he is garnished, they will grab ALL of the money, and then leave you a very long and expensive process (you'll probably need an attorney) to TRY to get back what's yours as an "innocent spouse".
It also means not filing taxes together if there's a refund, since THAT could be intercepted too...and the process for innocent spouse with the IRS makes the rest of the issue look like child's play.
