Default Jail Time
First time offender gets in a fight at a bar helping out a friend. first time offender hits a guy sneaking up on his friend with a chair. Police say he needs reconstructive surgery after the fact. What could happen to the guy who swung the chair?

Default Re: Jail Time
It depends upon the state. It sounds like it would likely be charged as felonious assault, assault with intent to cause great bodily harm, or some other more serious assaultive offense. The chair-swinger should consult a criminal defense lawyer.
