Is It Legal for My Ex-Husband to Run a Background Check on Me

My question involves a background check in the State of: az

my question is, my ex-husband ran a backround check on me, which only is possible with my social security number, he emailed me the results and all it showed was case numbers but he knew what they were about ( i did not even know any cases existed) they are all now being taken care of,
however, is it allowed for a person other than for a job or apartement, to run a backround check? and also didnt he need my ok for such?

This was a background check he ran three years ago? And we're talking about a criminal records check, not a credit report?

we are talking about a criminal backround check but he might have run a credit report too, and he ran it 2 weeks ago

I am trying to find out if it is legally allowed for a person i am divorced from for 3 years to run a back round check on me without having any reason to do so.

Anyone can pay the $50 (it's cheaper on some websites) to run a criminal background check. Not illegal. Heck, it's not uncommon practice to do that before getting serious with a prospective partner!

It is NOT legal for just anyone to run a credit report. That's a different matter entirely.

ok that is all i wanted to know
