    Default Obtaining Guardianship Records

My question involves guardianship in the State of: New Jersey

Where would I get records of a guardianship in the state of NJ? I am assuming that these records are "public records". My ex says he's my sons "legal guardian", but I can find no info on this. I have tried calling the surrogate's office in the county he lives in, the superior court where he lives, the probate court, etc. No go!
My ex says that my son is receiving SSDI also. Would my ex mean that he is "legal guardian" of my son just through SS? Or does a legal guardian have to be court appointed? I can find no records of this guardianship.
My ex and son live in Monmouth County NJ...

If the guardianship was through a court, then the court has records. But we're talking about the child's father, aren't we? Why do you believe that the child's father would be talking about a court-ordered guardianship, rather than describing himself as the child's natural guardian?
