Retrieving Possessions from Ex-Fiancé's House

My question involves civil rights in the State of: OHIO

I have lived with my fiance for two years now. I took care of his daughter from previous relationship, worked and paid my way through college to get my bachelors. I don't need to go into details to explain the amount of pain I am in right now because I just recently found out I was pregnant and he kicked me to the curb, has changed locks and I can not get any of my stuff. I recently came into some money and in last three months have put over $18,000 into him- remodeling the house, a luxury vacation ect. I know I am not going to see that money. He now has a completely remodelled home and I have nothing. I also paid for (out of my checking accounts, I have receipts) for brand new appliances, washer dryer, I bought a $650 puppy, furniture, dressers, etc. He will not let me get these things, he has changed the locks. I can't concentrate on anything, I can't stop crying, I am so depressed. How can someone trick me and screw me over so bad?
What are my chances of recovering my things?

Caroline, please go and speak with an attorney.

I know you're hurting but you've got to get businesslike about this. You paid for certain items, you own them and you're entitled to retrieve them. Also, it sounds like you were actually illegally evicted - you may even be able to sue for damages on that one. Be prepared for him to argue that you gifted the items to him.

And when your baby is born, be sure to file for the child support to which you're entitled.

So if he argues that I gifted them to him? Which I did NOT! ????Then what? Will I win? I have receipts.

what was the agreement concerning the money you spent on the remodeling? Was there any talk of loans concerning the money?

You have your receipts, and that should go a long way unless he has something indicating that these items were indeed a gift.

The remodeling etc? Without an agreement to repay or reimburse you, I doubt you're going to see any of that unfortunately.
