Getting a Power of Attorney From a Sick Parent

My question involves a power of attorney in the state of: Mississippi,
My father is currently on life support in Mississippi, I am one of 3 daughters. The other which have turned down the right to be his power of attorney. I am the only daughter that wants to be involved with my fathers medical decisions. I currently live in California because my husband is currently Active Duty military. Can I still act as his power of attorney and help him or is it void because I am so far away?

It would be extremely difficult for you to respond to emergencies or, as necessary, sign documents given the distances involved. Is there somebody other than you or your sisters who might be an appropriate choice?
