Fiancee Moved Out, Now in Foreclosure

My question involves a foreclosure in the State of: New Jersey

My fiancee (ex-fiancee now) were together for 13 yrs and he's the father of my children moved out a few months ago. We own the house jointly, meaning both our names are on deed and mortgage. We've only had the house for four yrs and since leaving me and the kids we have now received several letters from the mortgage company stating they are starting the foreclosure process. Few questions: how long do we have before we are literally kicked out & isn't there anything I can do legally to have him continue to pay mortgage. I am currently unemployed and a full time college student and do not have the means to save the house. Is there such a thing as "abandonment" in the legal system for cases like this? Thanks in advance for the advise.

Nobody here can tell you how quickly your bank will proceed with the foreclosure or, once that process is complete, how quickly or aggressively they will move to get you out. Some banks move very quickly, others let things linger on for years.

You should talk to your ex- about listing the property for a sale or talking to the lender about a short sale.
