Default Looking for Government Savings Bonds That Were Promised to Me

Since I was in my early teens my grandmother always told me she was buying government savings bonds for me over time so that I could use it later in life for important things. She died of a heart attack a couple years ago. My mom dealt with the aftermath and paperwork. I've asked my mom multiple times about these and how badly I need them to establish a life (Jobless immigrant and moving again soon) but she says she has come across no such paperwork physically when cleaning out and selling my grandma's house. These were likely in my grandma's or grandpa's name rather than my own.

My question is, how do I find these bonds? Is there a certain government office that I need to submit some kind of query to? If they're not there anymore and were cashed, can I at least access information that would show a history of pre-existing bonds?

If they were in your grandparent's name, unless they were given to you in a will, you have no right to them. They would go to the heirs of the estate regardless of her stated intentions.

since you don't actually know anything about the bonds, here is some information for one type of bond they might have purchased:
