=tylerdustin2008;544797]Yes I know this. I look bad. But I did what I did to learn and no other reason, if it was an indivduals items I would have not taken them.
Oh, since they weren't owned by an individual, I guess that makes everything alright.

Geez guy, stealing is stealing and you are an admitted thief. Your argument that, for some reason, it was not owned by an individual somehow makes it less egregious is simply foolish.

But even though I may look bad. The Police should suffer the consequences for not following the law.
You need to deal with your criminal charges first. If you cannot get out of them based on an illegal search, you will lose in a suit against them for violation of your rights. If the search was illegal, there should be no problem getting the evidence excluded. If you cannot get it excluded based on a claim of an illegal search, a court has determined the search was legal.

Now how might I find an attorney that would be willing to work with a contingency fee?
You won't. The possible award is not great enough to get the interest of an attorney willing to take it on contingency. When I said 30% of a dollar is not enough to interest an attorney, I was serious.
I am not an attorney and any advice is not to be construed as legal advice. You might even want to ignore my advice. Actually, there are plenty of real attorneys that you might want to ignore as well.

Furthermore, criminal attorneys do not work on contingency... because there is no money awarded win or lose.

You seem to know an awful lot about the trailer for not ever having it in your possession.
I know about the trailer because im no idiot. I am a mechanically inclined person. How many brands of 24' enclosed trailers are there out there? If im going to be accused if something I will do my research.

Nothing has happened because it hasn't even went to pre-trial yet. I am wanting to be prepared.

I am willing to accept punishment. But me doing a wrong is not even on the same level as them doing something wrong.

    On my honor,
I will never betray my badge,
    my integrity, my character,
    or the public trust.
    I will always have
    the courage to hold myself
and others accountable for our actions.
I will always uphold the constitution
my community and the agency I serve.

That is the Sworn oath for police officers.

Now what in that gives them the right to do as they wish? If it were the case that they could 1/2 the population would be in prison. They have to follows the rules just as much as the rest of us have to. Like I said two wrongs dont make a right, they represent the local government. Do they have alcoholics, junkies or protitutes working for them? No that is becuse they have a reputation to uphold to make the public trust them. If they just did what they wanted, no one would trust them. Thus theres jobs would not be there. So they have to follow the law with the cross of every T and the dot of every I. Because they have the power to ruin your life, so they must do it properly.

    Okay, just stop.

You seem more pissed off that they took your tools away than anything else. Free tools!!! I waited a day before I stole it because that meant Free Tools!

Yes, the police have to follow the law. Again, if you don't think they did, sue them through an attorney. However, if the trailer could be seen from another vantage point, you have a real problem.

I have my court appointed. Once I hopefully get the charges dropped then I am wanting to file suit.

Yes, the police have to follow the law. Again, if you don't think they did, call the police. However, if the trailer could be seen from another vantage point, you have a real problem.
I'm not worried about the tools. Not until I started putting pieces together. They have the right to arrest me and charge me. Well what about them? Whats their punishment.

Could not been seen unless you were on the property looking for it. The investigator that investigated me, was not the one who investigated the tools to begin with. So he had no idea who the trailer belonged to. That is untill he took the vin, then found out that it was stolen... Then he knew the whole story.

Okay, this is getting old....The stickers were on the side of the trailer, right?

What about that house on the right of your little pirate's cove in your picture. Could the trailer with the Dept. of Education sticker on it be seen from THEIR driveway?

Do you think that if the nice officers saw such a trailer in your yard that they would call in to find out if one was stolen?

how many brands? In my area, there are at least 5 and that is all within one county in one state. How many there are across the country I couldn't begin to guess.
here is one 24' trailer that has a axle with a GVW rating of 3500 pounds. Obviously the trailer is going to weigh much less than that.

    http://www.trailershowroom.com/8X24tal.htm

unless you know exactly what manufacturer, model, and options the trailer has or you have seen the data plate, there is no way for you to determine the weight simply by knowing how long it is. In reality, this is irrelevant though. Nothing you have presented exonerates you. You are simply making statements that, even if true, does not mean there was not some other way to perform the task.

I am willing to accept punishment. But me doing a wrong is not even on the same level as them doing something wrong.
then plead guilty to your charges and look to suing the cops. That way you will be accepting punishment for your crime and you can attempt to hold them accountable for your actions.

but their wrong does not effect your wrong.

Do they have alcoholics, junkies or protitutes working for them? No that is becuse they have a reputation to uphold to make the public trust them.
actually, given enough time, I could show you alcoholics, junkies, and prostitutes that are or have been, at the time of employment with the police force, employed as police officers.

It was a open 8x10 trailer no markings on it other than the maker and vin. Stickers were on actual tools.
