Chances of an ACOD in New York for a First Time Offender

Hello,
I was recently arrested for petit larceny after attempting to shoplift $130 worth of merchandise from a Lord and Taylor. After being caught i signed a confession and paid the civil demand on the spot. I am 18 yrs old, i have never had any other offenses- not even a speeding or parking ticket- and I'm wondering what my chances of getting the charge reduced are. Im hoping for an acod or something of that sort. I am going to college and I have high hopes for my life ahead, I made a stupid mistake and I could not regret it more and Im just wondering if it is going to ruin my life. Thanks.

I do have a lawyer, he pretty much said the same thing- i guess im just not entirely convinced and still looking for reassurance. I really just hope that the D.A realizes that im young and crumbled under peer pressure, but i have learned from my mistakes and still want to be a strong contributor to society- which just cant happen with a criminal record. I guess I just need to keep praying for the best outcome.
