Two months and still waiting for a court date

I was caught shoplifting in late May. They told me I would get a court date in the mail. I signed the papers and the cops came and everything. It's July now. I'm tired of waiting. Is there a way I can speed it up? Has anyone had to wait 2 months or longer before?

Call or go to the courthouse, give them your name and social security number and ask them to look you up. It's possible there was a problem with the mail.

They should be able to look up any criminal case with just your name (although it is possible that somebody else shares your name, and that there are past court files involving that person).

I am in a similar situation and I had a to wait 3 months before I received a court date. So it is definitely possible that they are still processing yours. Still you should do what the others advised and call them to find out. Good luck.

I posted earlier. Recap: caught shoplifting May 24, 2006. Police and paperwork filled out and everything...

So I took someone's suggestion, and even called the clerk's office. They have nothing on me.

What next? I know I signed papers about appearing in court. They said they would mail the date to me.

I mean, really, what can I do?! The public records online have nothing. I called the office. Nothing. Is there a time limit they have? How long can this drag out?

I am in similar situation except that i got summons on the day I was caught with a court date already on it. 5th july .. however was not in the systems on that day when i went to thecourt for my case.. lawyer says i got to just wait and see what happens..
