Default Immigrating to Canada marriage - staying illegally & dep

    hello there.

i checked over the forum and found alot of imformitive stuff but not excatly what i need.

ok let me try and keep it short.

if someone was to get married to a canadian who has a crimal record and at some point has had legal aid, but is no longer on legal aid. is there anyhitng i should be aware of in case you can't marry a canadian who was on legal aid with in a certain time period and or would the criminal record reflect badly upon me.

also.. Just simply overstaying on your visa for a long periof of time. would i be out of status during this time and would this mean i can't apply for perminant redicency? ( as i know after staying 3 years in canada you can apply)
and if deported whats the process and whats the worst that can happen or whats most liekly to happen assuming the perosn have no criminal record or charges.

    thanks

    joe

    Default Canadian Immigration Law

I don't have a background in Canadian immigration law; but the consequences of going out of status can be severe in pretty much any nation.

I'm not sure what you mean by being "on legal aid".

legal aid is.. uh... basically you need to pay for a lawyer/legal costs. legal aid will look at your situation.job, income. etc etc and then if you qualify they will pay the costs which i believe you have to pay back.

well i have had an offer for proper employment. the governing body has rejcted my application twice.

and i'm still trying to apply for immigration however the Canadian polcie are 2 months late in sending back my background report as i have spent alot of time there.

i'm 22. i don't drink or smoke or even do drugs. i speak English and for whatever reason they turn me away. i can visit no problem.

actually thats another thing. i read somewhere on an offical site that you couldn't apply for a "Marriage of convience" under this (what ever section it was) section.

would the entail that a marriage of convience is legal?

    Sir,

You should discuss all your U.S. immigration matters with a competent U.S. immigration attorney. At the same time, should you have questions regarding Canadian immigration law, you should talk to a Canadian Solicitor.

This reply is in the nature of general information, not legal advice and should not be relied on as such.
