Question Keeping Kids' Social Security Money

If your getting help like 'money' from the government.. For your kids, for food and other things. Cause you clam you need it to take care your kids. But you have money your not turning in and your kids dont live with you anymore. Can you get in some kind of trouble for not turning in money or something like that?

If your kids aren't living with you, how are you taking care of them?? Yep, you can absolutely get in trouble. Sounds like misuse of benefits, possible fraud, all sorts of bad things.

Janke, this alas is the minor child looking for any which way she can to screw the parent and somehow get permission to date her adult boyfriend against that parent's wishes.

And I doubt very much that the kid is aware of how that money is being used. I can think of several ways right off the top that money could be quite legitimately used for the purpose to which it is meant even if the kid is living with other relatives.

Yes im a minor, but im not trying to screw over my step dad. I just believe its wrong of him to get money help. When he dont need it, or even use it for the right things.

Social Security is not needs based (under current law but who knows about the future), so whether the father needs it or not is immaterial.

some of the right things are food and shelter. Do you have a bed? Is there food in the cupboard? Are you able to put clothes on every day?

Dependent benefits do not belong to the custodian, they are for the child and must be spent on the child. The question isn't whether the child's needs are being met, but whether the social security money is being used to meet them. It is a legitimate concern.

But in this particular case, the child is looking for some way, any way, to get her parents in trouble with the law because they are forbidding her to see her boyfriend. I very much doubt that she is aware of how the money is being used.
