Re-Adoption of International Adoption

My question involves adoption law for the State of: Oklahoma

My husband and I have adopted a child from China and would like to complete the readoption paperwork so that she will be able to get a state-issued birth certificate. Where do I start? Can I do this myself?

In terms of readoption in your state, I see that your state permits readoption, and I see that once you get the matter before the court it's usually pro forma - if everything is in order the judge basically reviews the order, signs off and you're done. Unfortunately I do not see a good source of instructions or forms for how to handle your own readoption. You may be able to find parents who have handled the process themselves, and can share the paperwork, on an adoption support forum. You can also check with your county court to see if any forms or form packages are available. You may be able to find instructions and sample forms in a family law practitioner's guide for your state, perhaps at a nearby law school library or your county law library. You may also want to check to see how much a lawyer would charge for this process.
