Unhappy Possible car repossession
I purchased a used car in January 06. Since then my employer has
cut my hours back and have had some health problems. I'm not
even a month behind yet..and hope to find someway to get
caught back up with payments. How long will a car finance
company let someone usually go before having repo people
calling...harrassing. This is so embarrassing, I have never
had to let anything get repossed and hope it won't come
to it.
Thanks...desperate in Tennessee.

Actually, asking for you to pay your debts is not harassment.

typically the lender will call after one month behind, your situation is not too uncommon and they are used to it....just let them know what has happened and many times they will work things out for you sometimes by just tacking on your missed months to the end of the contract or giving you an extension.....granted they will only do this so many times depeding on the lender and their policies.

That would be nice. I've suggested that to my lender, but they weren't trying to hear that.

jmtenn1: like ggauf said, talk to them now. don't wait. Your not behind yet. Lenders like when you call them, and they don't have to chase you down. Let us know how things work out. To make you feel better, read my thread
