My question involves civil rights in the State of: Illinois
Several years ago I was volintarly hospitalized in a mental facility for deppression and anxiety. My father had suddenly passed away at the same time I was in the process of getting a divorce after 18 years of marriage. Because of this, Illinois revoked my right to posses a F.O.I.D card. How do I petition the court for restoration of my rights. I never lost employment at the company I have worked for more than 20 years. I now live in the house I own with my two teenage chidren. Question 3 on the F.O.I.D. aplication reads, "In the past 5 years, have you been a patient in any medical facility or part of any medical facility used primarily for the care or treatment of persons for mental illness?" I have to answer yes to this question which denys me the right to be issued a F.O.I.D. card. In illinois you can not legally own or posses a firearm with out a F.O.I.D. card.
Thank you much
