Forgot to Get Registration Inspected

My question involves vehicle registration or title in the state of:

Hi everyone. SO I received a ticket for expired registration a few months back. Since than I paid for registration at the DMV, received my tags, and placed them on my car. At the time I was going through a lot of health and financial issues. I lost my job and was really low on money. This morning I received a letter stating I had a suspended license and had a warrant. I totally forgot about taking my car in to get inspected. I owe 890 dollars. Which seems totally outrageous to me. So what should I do? I do not have the money to pay. What should I plead when I see a judge? I can't believe a fix it ticket turned into a near 1000 fine.

well, the state that you blatantly failed to include is important for anything specific.

Given what you have posted, I would suggest getting proof of when you purchased the new registration and take that in with you. While you are guilty of the charge, maybe with proof you did comply, the court will have some compassion and go easy on you.
