    Default Retail Fraud 3rd Degree

My question involves criminal records for the state of: Michigan
I am 17 years old and I stole 11 dollars worth of items at Kmart. This is my very first offense! I am not a resident of Michigan I just came to visit I reside in Florida and attend high school there. I can prove it because i own a Florida state ID. What I would like to know is since I am not an active Michigan resident how could that effect my sentence, community service, fee, probation and or jail time etc.? and what possibly could my sentence be? just a fee? as well as a fee to Kmart?

Your sentence can be a fine, court assessments, and up to 93 days in jail, along with a criminal misdemeanor record.

I suggest consulting a local lawyer about the possibility of getting a disposition that allows you to avoid a criminal record.

It's not unusual for courts to give defendants in your position a sentence that does not interfere with their out-of-state school schedule; I cannot promise you what will happen in your case as I don't know the full background or your prior history.
