First Time Drug Paraphernalia in Washington State

My question involves criminal law for the state of Washington.

I was at the hemp-fest in Tacoma, Washington the other day when a cop caught me and my friends smoking marijuana. This is the first thing ever on my record, I have never had to go to court or even talked to a cop. All that we had on us was a small pipe with less that 1/8th of a gram of weed left in it. It may have been all ash.
The cop said that he should have arrested all three of us, even though I was the one with the pipe in my hand when the cop saw us. He wrote down our names and addresses. He even had me tell him the address of the University which I am attending, it is summer break.
He told us that we might expect to get summons to court in the mail but he was only looking at me when he said it so i expect that my friends won't get anything. He took the pipe but he just left it there on the ground. We were kicked out of the park and now I am just waiting to get the summons in the mail if they ever come.
A lot of people were around when this happened, which leads me and my friends into thinking that the cops were trying to act tough to scare everyone else into not smoking.
I just want to know how likely it is that I will get all charges dropped or not even get the summons in the mail. I know that there is a minimum sentence of 24 hours in jail and a $250 fine for a first time offence but what is the probability that I will have to do that? I do plan on getting a lawyer if the summons ever come.

Basically I just want to know what is probably going to happen.

We have no way of telling you whether or not you'll receive a summons. If the officer said you would, odds are you will, but we cannot check the status of the charge for you.

If you are charged and your record is otherwise clean, consult a local lawyer about getting a deferred disposition. If your record is not clean it may be harder to get a deferral; all the more reason to consult a lawyer.
