School is Using My Records for Training on Problem Students

My question involves education law in the State of: Tennessee

This spring semester I was suspended from my university. I withdrew from that school.

I was informed by several professors that my educational records were being passed around campus and reviewed with instructors and staff as part of a university training program on identifying problem students. I went back and reviewed copies of my signed FERPA statement to try to understand the laws I'm dealing with.

If I could prove this has happened or is currently happening, do I have a legitimate complaint with the US Department of Education? I don't know if I have a case or not because I'm not sure if this use of my records would be considered "legitimate needs" of the university and that's built on the assumption I could even prove this was going on.

You can file a complaint for their investigation if that's what you want to do. For all we know, if this is in fact happening, the records were redacted such that they don't include any identifying information.

All of my information is on there, including name, SSN, last known address and phone number as well as grades, personal observations made by faculty that were submitted for inclusion throughout my years of attendance as well as all disciplinary actions taken against me. I know this because I asked a professor if they could bring me a copy of what they were using in these training sessions around campus and now have that copy in my possession.

What he brought me was a photocopy of my file from the university.

I will call The United States Department of Education and hopefully within a year or two be able to uncover a massive scandal that will get this University closed permanently. Watch out little time university in South East Tennessee, I'm coming for YOU!
