Angry Requesting DNA Test After Adoption

My question involves paternity law for the State of: Florida.

I found out I may be the biological father of my ex-girlfriends daughter but she had her current husband adopt her as his own. My question is, can I request a DNA test & possibly reverse the adoption? I was never notified of any of this happening and I just really want to know if she is my daughter. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Were they married at the time of the birth?

    How old is the child?

It sounds like from what you have written, she was your girlfriend when the baby was conceived? Since the current husband had to adopt the child, she was not married to the husband when she gave birth otherwise, why would he have had to adopt the baby. Is this correct?

I take it you didn't register in the Florida putative father's registry, is this correct?

What year was the baby adopted? How old was the child when she was adopted? How long has the husband been raising the child as his own? Did you know about her pregnancy?

If all you want is to know if she is your daughter, just leave it alone.

If you want to be a father, then answer the questions the others have asked.

There is no sense in taking action just to find out if you are the father or not unless you intend on acting upon your parental rights and being a father to the child.
I am not an attorney and any advice is not to be construed as legal advice. You might even want to ignore my advice. Actually, there are plenty of real attorneys that you might want to ignore as well.

That is a good point. Thanks for bringing it up.

    Yeap.

And, there's a reason why clarification is sometimes needed - any regular poster will have seen multiple instances where the poster inadvertently uses the wrong terminology; it's best to get things clarified at first rather than 2 pages down the line.

They were not married at the time of birth & she will be 5 this year.

We didn't date that long, & when she found out she was pregnant she told me she was absolutely positive it was her ex. We broke up shortly after that because she wanted to work out things with him. She was not married at the time she gave birth. I did not register with the Florida Putative Father's Registry because she said she was 100% sure I was not the father and I figured she would know when she conceived. The baby was born in 2006 & adopted in 2009 from what I've heard. She got involved with her husband in 2008 and started living with him in the beginning of 2009 and shortly after he adopted her.

If she is my daughter, then I am going to be the father I should be. I absolutely intend on taking action, but I just want to know if I can even request a DNA test after she's been adopted?

    Thank you for clarifying!

When did the adoption take place?

(And please take not of jk's post)

ETA: you edited your post before I answered; what you really need to do is speak with a local attorney immediately.

I absolutely intend to speak with an attorney but wanted to get a little heads up on what to expect. It's definately going to be difficult if I can even do anything considering her husband is in the marines and they currently reside in Japan.

..was the child born in Japan?

    On a military base? Elsewhere?

    This is important.
