My question involves a traffic citation from the state of: New York
I received a ticket for parking in a handicap space of a private lot. There were no above ground signs posted and the markings on the ground were faded. When I backed into this spot at dusk, it was not clear it was a reserved space. Please see the picture below.

My question is, does there need to be an above ground sign posted in order for it to legally be considered a handicap space? What are the requirements of a handicap space in New York?
I want to know what my chances are of fighting this ticket, because I do not believe it is justified.
I would appreciate any help or advice.
