Default Consequences of Breaching a Non-Compete Clause

My question involves employment and labor law for the state of: California
I worked for company A providing services for clients. I signed a contract that I could not go work for the clients within a year of end date. Well I quit so I can work for another company but that didnt work out and I was contacted by the client of company A, that I provided services for, they wanted to hire me to work for their company doing something totally different from what I did while working with company A. I took the position because the pay was increased significantly and have to take of my family.

Is this a breech of contract?

I am now unemployed and am concerned that company A might find out that I worked for one of their clients (even if in a different field). Is there any way that unemployement would tell company A who I worked for after them? Can I be in any trouble?

It would depend on the exact nature of your non-compete agreement or what it was. However, these things are rather difficult to enforce and unless you were a key officer of a big $$ corporation it's probably not economically feasible for them to try to enforce it against you.

    Also, it's "breach" not "breech."
