Default Served With a Summons Over Credit Card Debt

My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: AZ
I was served a summons by Asset Acceptance who claimed to be from a bank. I had a paralegal draw up an answer but need to know when I should submit it. Also I keep hearing about a "discovery"? What is that and should I file one also? There doesn't seem to be much in regards of how to proceed from here and can't really afford an attorney. I don't want to have a judgment put on me without a fight but not sure what to do next.

A summons typically states the deadline for filing your answer with the court; you will want to file and serve it in advance of that deadline. There's no benefit in sitting on your hands - it's much better to file early than to miss the deadline and risk default.
