Different Name on Background Check

My question involves a background check in the State of: California

Hi there, I changed my name with Social Security on April 28th, 2011. I did a preliminary self background check today (did not pay for the service yet, but did a search with my new name but my old name popped up) and still notice my old name on it. I have already received my new Social Security card under my new name in the mail as SS only takes 2 weeks or less to update information, but haven't applied for a new ID in my new name as of yet.

I have previously lived in Chicago IL under my old name until age 18.

What can I do to get it changed to show my new name at least as a primary name? I dislike my old name and i changed it for family reasons. I am 21 and currently looking for a part-time summer job and then a full time job in 2 months.

Which site do employers use most often? Are they all the same? Thanks!

You have to wait for the services to update. Some services pull new information every month, some only every couple years or so, and some don't bother.

There are no statistics available for that. Employers tend not to disclose who they use until you sign the consent for a background check, it's not released as public information.

Are they all the same?

No. Some are complete and properly updated. Some suck.
