Collecting Unemployment After Sdi Ends

My question involves unemployment benefits for the state of: I worked for a temporary agency until I was able to claim SDI due to pregnancy. My SDI has ended and I have submitted a claim for an addition 6 weeks of Paid Family Leave. I am not sure if I would receive PFL since I have not worked there for a 12 months. I have spoken to my previous employer about working again. They do not have any available jobs. My question is can I submit a claim for unemployment benefits?

CAN you? Sure. You can always file a claim.

Will you be approved? Well, if you have not worked for 12 months, you will either be declined or your benefit will be extremely small, since it's doubtful you will have enough wages in the base period to qualify. But that's no reason not to try. A small benefit is better than no benefit.
