Unhappy Breaking Verbal Agreement To Allow A Pet

My daughter's landlord verbally agreed to let her and her husband bring his dog over from Poland. They went throught the time and expense of bringing a pet from another country and now that it is here they decided they have changed their minds and want the dog gone in a week(which is impossible). All they other apts in the building have pets and they have not been asked to get rid of their pets. I feel it is discrimination and they have broken their agreement. What can be done?? They live in NJ and I haven't gotten too much info out of the local gov't. Thank you for any help you can give us!

    My response:

This is not discrimination. What proof is there that an agreement existed?

Being a verbal agreement there is no "proof". Can a landlord allow some tenants to have pets and exclude others?

Yes. Each tenant has a separate contract with the landlord.
