Is a Hearing for Entry of Judgement a Garnishment

My question involves judgment recovery in the State of:Michigan. Is hearing for entry of judgement the same as Garnishment? First there was a summons/complaint, I have no case against the debt and didnt show. Now comes this hearing for entry of judgement, I have no assets other than Social security, and welfare. Is garnishment next? At what point would I have to appear? If I have nothing, is there any sense in filing for bankruptcy? Thanks

A hearing for entry of a judgment is exactly that - a hearing for entry of a judgment. If you choose not to appear to dispute the amount requested, you can expect that the court will award that amount.

If the plaintiff seeks an order of garnishment, it will be after judgment is entered and the time for an appeal by right passes.

Thank you! I have to be a state resident for 2 yrs before I can file, thats some months away. Im on SSDI, with no saleable assets or substantial bank accounts, do I even need to file? What are the implications?
