Does NCIS Need a Warrant?

NCIS came to my house which is not located on base and took my computer. They took pictures of the room the computer is in and informed me that they were taking it for an investigation involving my husband.

The next day my husband was sent to the brig.... I don't know what's going on but I assume it has something to do with whatever they found on the computer.

Did they have the right to take my computer in order to seize whatever they found on it off without any sort of warrant/paperwork to do so???

I'm really stressed out, if my husband did something that will get him kicked out of the military then I have no source of income for our home and bills... will my only real option be to file bankruptcy and ruin my credit life because of something that is not my fault but directly affects my life???

Did you ask to see a warrant? Did they produce one? Is it possible that your husband gave them permission to remove the computer? If so, and they were acting under the reasonable assumption that it was joint/marital property, they don't necessarily need a warrant. You can object to the seizure but it is not likely to go anywhere. You will most likely get it back when the case is concluded.

If NCIS is involved and he is in the brig, it's a fair bet he's either headed for prison at the worst or a boot in the ass from the military. If so, he is free to find another job (if he can) to support you. You are free to do the same, absent some legitimate reason you cannot work. In that case, you might look into assistance.
