Default Baby Name Change in Hawaii

My question involves name change laws in the State of: Hawaii

My son is 4 months old. When he was born I gave him is father's last name but his father is not on the birth certificate I am the only one on the birth certificate. Me and his father were not married at the time either. He has been absent in his son's life. I do not intent to seek help from him later on down the road or paternity. Do I need his consent to change his last name to mine?

You either need his consent or to convince the court to allow the name change without it.
