Ticketed for Passenger Not Wearing a Seatbelt

My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: New York, yesterday I was pulled over because a state trooper saw that my passenger was not wearing a seatbelt. He then ticketed me instead of my passenger wwhen I was wearing mine. Was he right in ticketing me or should my passenger have gotten the ticket. Should I fight it or just pay it. How much is a seatbelt ticket? Thank You

What section were you cited for? And how old is your passenger?

Couldn't tell you how much, you may want to contact the court for that info...
