Caught Shoplifting and Charged

My question involves criminal law for the state of: California.

Today I was caught shoplifting about 30$ from kmart. They called the police and said i was going to have to go to court. I have a perfect record otherwise, what is going to happen? I have a scheduled court date. I am 18.


If I plead guilty is this a misdemeanor?
What are fines i will face?
How do I get rid of this from my permanent record?
What should I do in court?
