Unhappy Taking Money from Your Job

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Ohio I worked for the united states post office for the last year. I worked in a small office so it was all hand done with calulators and paper and we kept records. we also issue money orders which is where my problem came up.... see i issued money orders to my self with out haveing the money, then i would put the down a few weeks latter when i had the money that way my bills were paid on time but yet the money was not accounted for on paper. this went on for 3 months i paid the money back as fast as i could but not only did my own money orders fall behind but so did the other money orders for the general public. I could only enter the ones i had money for on the day. so the date on the money order didn"t match the deposite date. i never took any cash from the draw it was all put into the deposite for either stamp sales or money orders. well i got caught and got inspected, their saying i could be up for federal theft since i used the money orders to cover my bills when i never deposited the money... the total money i'm behind is around $1,600. I was paying it back like i said but i could pay back fast enough then since i was putting all my money into the deposite for the post office again had no more money for bills needed to make out more money orders and I just got more and more and more in debt. I have no record and im a young lady in her early 20s i know i messed up big time but i was wondering if anyone could tell me what to kind of expect. right now i'm thinking the worst..... so anything no matter what it is would help thank you

where do I go from here......

and rightfully so. You should not say anything to anybody except for your lawyer. You could be facing some very serious charges with jail time in your future.
I am not an attorney and any advice is not to be construed as legal advice. You might even want to ignore my advice. Actually, there are plenty of real attorneys that you might want to ignore as well.

It's not clear whether you're telling us that they're planning to charge you, or if you're stating that they're merely thinking about filing charges - but either way the thing to do right now would be to pay back the money you stole. Sell your precious things, borrow from friends and family, whatever.

If you've already been charged, get a lawyer and talk to your lawyer about how to proceed.
