I'm on ss disability since last June. In the last few months I've done some freelance jobs through a contractor, about 2/month, which will end in April. The most that I made was $600 in one month. I'll probably get a 1099 at the end of the year for around $2000 or less. I was under the (wrong) impression that I could still earn $1000/month. I did call ss and they said I had to go on a Trial Work Period but then read on their website that if you make less than $720 it doesn't count. I'm confused and also fear having the contractor know I'm disabled. Do I have to report this to ss now, or can I just file it on my taxes next year? If I do, can I say I was self employed? I hope I haven't messed up my benefits as I'm having surgery this summer. Sorry for the long post. Thanks.
