Unhappy Statutory Rape in Texas
I live in Texas.
I and my boyfriend have been going out for 5 1/2 months now and have no plans or inclination that we will be breaking up any time soon. He was 17 when we began dating and turned 18 in June. I am still 15 and will be 16 in August. We are only 2 years and 3 months apart in age difference. My parents believe us to be sexualy active with one another and said they would press charges on him or get him in trouble with the law if they had any inclination to believe we had been having sex after his 18 b-day in June.

1. Is it illigal for us to be together in a sexual relationship or otherwise?
2. Can my parents press charges on him or have him arrested?
3.Is there any kind of legal ramification that could occur sturred by my parents or law enforcement?
4. Would it be legal after I turn 16?

I appreciate greatly any help that can be provided.Thank you for your time and efforts in reading and replying to this message.

Sincerely,
MJ

Default Re: Statutory Rape in Texas
The age of consent in Texas is 17. It is a defense to having sexual intercourse with a person under seventeen if the age of the accused is within three years of the age of the victim.
