My question involves criminal law for the state of: Mississippi
A little over a year ago I was arrested for possession of Marijuana, I went to court and plead guilty, I was given a fine and they told me my license would be suspended for 6 months. That was bout 7 months ago, in Febuary I called the department of public safety to ask when my suspension would be up so I could get a new license, the lady asked my social and told me I had no record of any suspension or crimes with the exclusion of 1 speeding ticket which had been stripped from my record because I took drivers safety.
That was 5 months after the court date, and a year and 1 month after the arrest. The lady told me the best she could say was to wait a few more days because "sometimes it takes a few days after the court date for it to enter our system". But as I say it was 5 months after the court date, and I had already paid the fine off at the court house. I even printed a driving record to validate it for myself, no record.
My question is who should I contact about this? Should I contact anyone, did I just get lucky? I just need to find out because if for some reason it does show up later I need to try to get it expunged now because I can't after I turn 21.
