Reckless Driving Charge, 82 / 65, in Emporial County Virginia

My question involves a reckless driving ticket from the State of: Virginia - Recieved a reckless driving charge for 82 in a 70 over the weekend. Criminal charge - was in a line of cars all doing about the same speed. Cannot have this show up on my record. I have never been pulled over before, perfect driving record. I plan on fighting this ticket in May 2011 at trial. Would like a lawyer to represent me so I do not need to attend.

Then start Googling or break open the phone book, find a lawyer, and retain the lawyer to represent you. Virginia has a lot of lawyers who handle reckless driving cases.

As Bullwinkle said, get a lawyer in the county that you're charged in. At 82 you're right at the threshold where many judges may reduce (to something like careless driving) or dismiss a charge if you go through the 8 hour driving school. However, each judge is different. I'm unfamiliar with that end of the state.

My husband got pulled over going 82 in a 65 in Emporia County. The cop was a real jerk. Anyhow we live out of state and decided to find a lawyer. We were referred to Terry Driskill after contacting 3 different attorneys. Two of them didn't return our call and the other wanted $450 for his services.

We sent the lawyer my husbands drivering record (current state) showing his record was clean.
The lawyer was able to get us a non-moving violation with no points. The fine was $125 and court fees were $71 (we paid that over the phone with the court). The lawyer took a fee of $200. We were very happy with the outcome esp when you hear all this horror stories about "reckless driving in Virginia".

Emporia is an independent city in Virginia. It's not part of any county. It does have a Virginia General District Court
