    Default Garnishment of Bank Accounts

    My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: Georgia
    This home association i owe money has garnished one of my bank accounts. Can they garnish my other bank accounts? Also how did they get a hold of my bank account number?? I think i wrote them a personal check one time but it was a while ago. Im so scared what should i do?

    Yes, they can levy all accounts owned by you.

    The creditor does not necessarily need the account number. The bank can be instructed to levy all accounts owned by John Doe, SS# xxx-xx-xxxx.

    They may have obtained the account number from the check.

    If the can find a bank account and you continue to owe them money, consistent with any state laws restricting garnishment, the court that issued the judgment can authorize them to garnish the account.
