Default Overcharged for Carpet and Vinyl Damage

My question involves a security deposit in the State of: Florida

I just received by regular mail a letter from my previous community rental place, stating that they are not returning my deposit and claiming damages for the carpet and the vinyl floors.

I'm confused because both of the them were in good condition. They were not broken or had holes or big stains or anything!!!! Yes, they probably needed a shampoo and vacum but that's all!!!

I don't understand also why the letter has a notice date of January 12, 2011 but I moved out 3/8/2011.

Can someone please advice me in this matter. Thanks

Default Re: Overcharged for Carpet and Vinyl Damage

Do you have any photographs? You were in residence how long? The carpet and flooring were how old? Did they provide receipts or any other documentation of the charges or how the amounts claimed were calculated?

Ultimately, if you can't work things out, your remedy will come in small claims court.
