18-Year-Old Needs a Guardianship

My question involves guardianship in the State of: Louisiana. My daughter is 18 years old and wanted to move to Louisiana because she no longer wanted to abide by my rules. Now she cannot enter into school without her grandmother having guardianship for her. Is this correct? Even though she is at the age of majority?

She needs to call the school district where she wants to enroll and see how she would go about doing that as an adult high school student moving into the state.

She's a grown-up, so unless she has a mental, physical or other condition that leaves her unable to adequately care for herself, she's not going to get a guardian.

Thank you for your response, Mr. Knowitall. Could it be perhaps that the school is refering to power of attorney? Personnel at the school board office are saying that it is a federal law, is this correct? I have been searching online for information but have fallen short. I'd like to have something concrete to present to them. Any ideas?
