Child Support and Health Insurance

My question involves child support in the State of: kansas. Will we get less child support if we have not obtained new health insurance by the time we first file for child support? Or would it be best to obtain health insurance first, before filing for child support?

Normally the issues are separate. What's going on? Is it, for example, that you are presently in contempt of a court order requiring that you provide health insurance, resulting in the other parent having to pay for additional insurance coverage for the child?

We have primary residental custody and have never filed for child support. We are planning to now. We are currently without health insurance as a family and we are looking to obtain it. However, we also want to file for child support. So, my question is does it make any difference in the amount will be awarded if we do not have it prior to filing? We had heard we would be granted less money.
