My question involves a consumer law issue in the State of: Texas

My dad gave us a Jet Ski about 5 years ago. We've never used it. It sits parked outside our garage. I have long wanted to sell it, but my husband would never agree to. Finally he told me that the reason we can't sell it is that he never got the title transferred in our name. (We do have a bill of sale)

How much trouble are we in? Is there anyway to make this legal?

If I ask my dad for another bill of sale dated this month (which he would give me), would he be liable for the intervening years? (He does NOT live in Texas.)
